It's less about what he was saying and more of how he was saying it. West coast rappers were being called wack because they had a more straight forward style with less concentration on wordplay and metaphors.

You can hear Snoop in the beginning mocking their slang "Turn the speakers up money! Yo god! Yo I got mad skills"

Kurupt rapping that way was mocking New York rappers that felt superior because they were more wordy/complex..yea he got a nice vocabulary but he doesn't really over do it like that in his other shyt. Kurupt was trolling NY "lyrical miracle" rappers like ok...we can do that shyt if we wanted to, it ain't that hard.

And the politics of LA gangs doesn't work like that. Suge was MOB Piru and his entourage/enforcers were MOB Priu. They were not going to ride for Kurupt or any of the Dog Pound Gangsts since they were Crips. Kurupt was a Rollin' 60s Crip. You can see him throwing the six sign with his hands in his Foxy diss track video below at the 2:06 mark. Although he was part of the 60s, he wasn't an active member. In LA, you're not really considered down for the set unless you do a shooting or stabbing against a rival.

all i'm saying, just like the redman thing... is you are operating in an era (when this happened) where nikkas knew none of that shyt.. all they knew is what the source said, what was said on albums, and maybe few smart nikkas would read on the internet

nobody back then knew about any big U or the 60s or anything else... they heard kurupt talking, they saw his man get shot up, then a few weeks later, irv made that intro... if i remember correctly, kurupt even had to come out and address if it was retaliation because the magazines was saying that
