shyt was fire. That's the funny thing about One Punch Man; it's supposed to be satire of traditional shônen tropes but it executes them very well (which is probably a characteristic of any good satire).

The protagonist arrival after one or several secondary characters get their ass handed to them is a classic shônen trope, especially after a training arc.

Suiryu was a powerful ass dude in the One Punch Man lore at this point, and arrogant asf about it. Seeing him get beaten to a pulp by a monster was
It was a reality breaking, mind shattering beatdown for Suiryu, who even tried to flee, but the monster wouldn't let him Begged him for his life

Add to that his whole anti-hero speeches and him being forced to walk all that back and scream for help like a bytch... That was the cream of the crop of get back setups.
