Did anyone fall off as fast as Shaun Alexander from the Seahawks?

Bruh Todd Gurley fell off a fukking cliff

1800 yards from scrimmage at age 24

Career dead at 27 like Jim Morrison :picard:

made 50 mill though :blessed:

rbs careers are short, the only rbs that are starters that are over 30 are derrick henry and aaron jones

Kyle Juszczyk and Cordarrelle Patterson are tied for the oldest running backs this season. They are 33 years old. :wow:

Also all the running backs in the 2000's got some sort of CTE, they was getting ran into the ground, multiple running backs each season with 300 plus carries.

i think the worst to me is alfred morris, dude had great seasons got run into the ground early and because he was such a late pick never got paid
career earnings of 8.5 mill

Yeah that's fukked up, broke all types of rookie records and had 3 straight 1000 yard seasons to start his career and never got nothing to show for it. :francis:

Use the running backs until the mid to late 20's then toss them aside:francis:

It’s brutal and very harsh for the RBs, but yeah many GMs have that mentality.

If there was a way for RBs to get into the NFL/hit FA earlier, that would mitigate some of this and allow them to get compensated properly, but it’s going to be very difficult/near impossible to renegotiate the CBA to allow this for just one position.

At the time that Shaun Alexander was in his prime, I remember there being quite a few rumblings that the secret to his success was having Steve Hutchinson as his guard.

Hutchinson left for Minnesota in 2006 and coincidentally, Shaun Alexander was significantly less effective.

In 2005, the Minnesota Vikings rushing leaders were Mewelde Moore (662 yards) and Michael Bennett (473 yards)
In 2006, Hutchinson's 1st with the Vikings, Chester Taylor rushed for 1,216 yards.

Maybe it's all just a combination of factors, but it's something to think about.

If you take a look most RBS who had like 370 plus carries in a season were never the same after

Alexander
Elliot
Jamal Anderson
Eddie George
DeMarco murray
Terrell Davis
Marcus Allen
Larry Johnson
Davis is the exception. His injury that ruined him happened on opening day 1999 after his biggest year. Guy came down on the side of his knee as he ran down a defender returning a pick his qb threw. He said he knew he’d never be the same guy again even going into 2000. I can’t find footage of it but there’s a clip on the americas game documentary about the 1998 broncos.
