Kentucky changed their laws 2 1/2 years ago so if anything happened to the turtle, a Republican would have to be appointed. Recently Beshear said he wouldn't commit to following that law, and I guess it's a case that could go to the Supreme Court if challenged.

There is precedent for Beshear's case if it gets to that point. If it got to that point and Beshear won and got to appoint who he wanted? (Booker needs to be near the top of the list) The GOP would absolutely LOSE IT. :banderas:

With regards to McConnell: if you're a Democrat, you NEED Andy Beshear to stay the governor of Kentucky, because it may very well force McConnell to make a difficult choice of whether or not to retire, or have to actually leave his seat because his health is failing him. However, if Daniel Cameron wins governor, I suspect McConnell will announce his retirement soon after.
Cameron would appoint himself lol. He's a McConnell acolyte.

If he's the governor he can't do that. This is why the Democrats need to help Beshear keep that seat -- it's incredibly rare that Kentucky of all states, has a democratic governor. Schumer needs to stay far, far away from this race after he fumbled backing the wrong Senate candidate there the last time.
