This is why I always say that despite the negatives of segregation, you have to give it credit for making Black men stay in their communities and financially and emotionally support it. You still had BM like Jack Johnson and others who separated themselves from the community but the vast majority of BM had no choice but to stay in the community and take care of it because White men did not give them any safety nets outside of the community.
