Despite what people wanna say about belly....what would u rate "The Minister" Scene?

They all have to rely on that scene so they don't look like they glamorizing the life....even through most hood movies in the 90's really didn't.

Personally, I aways preferred ATL over a lot of "hood classics" outside of say Juice and Meance

Awful acting and emoting, jbh.

The preacher acted that out like he was reading cue cards off a screen.

X was a super thug caricature.

Someone who can act with real gravitas but also inhabit the scene could've taken it somewhere poignant.

As it is, it's just all stiff.

I agree with whoever said the opening to Belly is the only worthwhile part of the movie.

I've watched belly a hundred times and I always turn it off when it gets to this part.

Self preservation, the whole reason he accepted the hit, would’ve made him pull the trigger if his back was against the wall.

I hate movies or shows where a change in behavior isn’t earned and no progress toward that change was shown. He just flipped a switch.

It was an hour and a half movie by Hype Williams dropped in '98.

The whole movie is a parable and the minister scene is the punchline.

It's clunky but I can't disrespect it. Kinda like a gangsta rap song where the main character has to repent at the end.

Belly is essentially the rap music video of the time period turned into a feature length. It looks fantastic and it does have some really fun moments.

I allow every bit of it.

He got locked up and cut a deal to murder someone to be free. Where did he hit rock bottom? He was ok with killing in most of the movie.

in most of the movie he killed who he wanted to kill...

he wasnt being forced to kill... that's a big difference...

he wasn't in control anymore...
