Unrealistic. Why did he suddenly have a change of heart? His character was cutthroat and heartless up until that point. His shorties couldn’t eat no books, but now he’s open ears to the evil he was involved in?

he even proudly proclaimed he never read a book.
for the first time in his life he was being educated.
Self preservation, the whole reason he accepted the hit, would’ve made him pull the trigger if his back was against the wall.
I hate movies or shows where a change in behavior isn’t earned and no progress toward that change was shown. He just flipped a switch.
It was powerful if you catch the greater message. Zero disrepect to X, but a greater actor could have done some Oscar worthy shyt with that.

I honestly hate most "gansgter" movies in general.

Goodfellas and Casino were great gangster movies because every character was a piece of shyt and even though they were entertaining, they all got what was coming to them. No one suddenly grew a heart and escaped fate. That doesn’t even happen in real life.

They all have to rely on that scene so they don't look like they glamorizing the life....even through most hood movies in the 90's really didn't.
Personally, I aways preferred ATL over a lot of "hood classics" outside of say Juice and Meance

Stop it. There was no greater message. Hype Williams did the Hollywood route and just wanted a happy ending.
He got locked up and cut a deal to murder someone to be free. Where did he hit rock bottom? He was ok with killing in most of the movie.
