This is worse than i thought. I still think the whole thing is fishy, TBH. But i also feel dude is far from innocent of all this. Some of it may have been exagerated.

Go to the root. If he hadn't contacted them, none of this would be an issue.
Scandalous women will let you move first so that they can blame anything that goes wrong on you. They have the U.S. government behind them. So it's better to be smart in the beginning than trying to defend yourself. They are not about to convict the women of anything. I can just about guarantee that is not going to happen.
