So the general theme is to hold your elected's accountable. Lack of accountability is why they are so bold, but its harder to hold someone accountable when 2,000 of you care but 15,000 work long hours, live regular ass lives, and don't dedicate their time to learning this.
I'm seeing more and more that things simply have to get worse for them to get better and that is a shame.

He raises a few good points, but he's oversimplifying our political reality and pushing a few false equivalences. Saying "both sides are manipulating you" makes it sound like all political actors are equal in their tactics, goals, and their impacts, which is an oversimplified take. There's a stark difference between the kind of information used to drive policy versus misinformation used to undermine trust in institutions. By lumping everyone and everything together, he's missing the nuance of how some leaders actively work to preserve institutions and accountability and push for progress, while others work to destabilize them and push for regression.
Moreover, the call for "unity" and voting as the main form of accountability is too simple. Issues are more complex today to just think that a vote is the be all, and end all. Further, not all politicians or political forces are equally interested in unifying the public or respecting other voters voices. Sometimes, in the fight for meaningful change, you have to buck unity to push back against forces that obstruct progress, which voting is only a part of. It's still an important part, however.
In the end, he's making this sound like a simple game where everyone's manipulating information equally, which is only reinforcing cynicism and disengagement. He's implying that nothing anyone does really makes a difference and that's just not true, although at times, it feels that way.
With respect to Denzel, he is oversimplifying those differences, which does more harm than good.
