Have watched a few minutes here and there since it has been on HBO, holds up well. Even love the small noir moments with jazz playing and hand offs in the deep LA back alleys and street corners.
The scenes where he enjoys his little reprieve, his taste of the good life, from the sweat soaked Downtown slums, to the breezy Santa Monica beaches, with donuts and hibiscus tea.
"Coulda already done it....." the interrogation room scene was still tense, and you felt Roman just turn inside out when he realizes the possibility of imminent violence
Top 5 or maybe even 3 of 2017. Not quite as strong as Michael Clayton, but very good. It touched so many topics in a timely and deft way, from "being woke", to aging, to activism, money vs. morals, the internal conflict and guilt of material things....I think it was near brilliant.
