Deniro, but it's closer than you think. Pacino after the 80's has picked far better roles.

Scent of a Woman, Carlitos Way, Heat, City Hall, Devil's Advocate, Donnie Brasco, The Insider, Any Given Sunday, The Merchant of Venice, even Oceans 13 even his TV work "You Don't Know Jack" and "Angels in America".

Even some if the fairly shytty movies, he's performed well like S1mone, Two Bits, or the Recruit, or even People I Know.

The guy is dedicated.

yo ive had like hour long debates with people over this topic. im a HUGE fan of both of their work but everytime this comes up i have to side with De Niro. dude won best supporting actor and best actor before he was 40. and dont forget that oscar he won for godfather part 2 (best movie ever) he only spoke a few lines in english. de niro can hold down movies by HIMSELF. (see raging bull, taxi driver) <--- like he literally made those movies.

dude is a method actor and is known for researching his roles meticulously. ya'll know the story, for taxi driver he drove a cab around nyc for months preparing for the role. lived in sicily for 6 months for godfather, gained like 50 pounds and learned how to box for raging bull. the only dude who takes his craft more seriously is Daniel Day Lewis who is honestly probably a better actor then both these two but thats for another discussion

Pacino has held down movies HIMSELF too though (dog day afternoon, serpico)

I used to ride with Deniro because I like the movies he picks and he generally plays tougher characters, but after seeing Glengarry Glen Ross I had to bump up Pacino over Deniro. You can just tell Pacino really loves acting and he really gives it his all and engages with his roles.

:what:
Pacino is right back at cha with.. Godfather 1,2, Serpico, Dog Day Afternoon, Scarface, Scent Of a Women, Heat(deniro as well)
Pachino in Heat was damn near unwatchable. :birdman: I couldn't even finish the movie because of his shytty overacting.

Pacino became a parody of himself later on, just shouting all the time.

And now de Niro just picks terrible films.

Both have classics from their day though, over all I'd give it to de Niro.
