Fortunantly Ive had the fortune of training with elite runners. People dont understand the difference of the 2. If Bolt ran the 40 not in the blocks he would only be in the 4.3's. I remember we had Justin Gatlin run a 40...he only ran like a 4.35...thats in his prime(dopping years). We had a corner and a Wr running faster times...albeit the corner ran a 4.29. My dude Dwayne Chambers who ran sub 10 and holds the European 60m record could only pull out a 4.38. Ive seen it with my own eyes brehs, running a 40 is different than a 100. Its only 36.5 meters, the great 100 meter runners speed really kicks in between 30-50 meters

Props on the insight. Im surprised it took this long for ppl to bring Justin Gatlin in the convo. At the Titans Pro Day dude only ran a 4.45 if Justin Gatlin who just ran a 9.79 100m can only run a 4.45 then Usain probably isnt running a low 4.

Bolt isn't a quick starter. He doesn't even run the 60 during indoors.

It is very well possible that Denard could run a faster 40. I think Denard understands, like everyone else in here should, that Bolt's dominance is 50 yards and beyond.

If Bolt took the time to learn and practice the 40 it wouldnt even be close. Different event with different conditions. LOL at using Gatlin as a measuring stick for Bolt when Bolt just smoked him by damn near 2/10ths in the 100.

i think the point is just because you run the 100m in under 10 seconds doesn't automatically mean you're running a 4.2 40 like some seem to think.

the 40yd is about acceleration while the 100m is about top speed.

A sprinter who I feel could post a ridiculous 40 time is Shelly-Ann Fraser. She hits top speed within a couple of meters.
