You all will find that when McConnell is in office as senate majority leader, manchin is against the republicans
its crazy that dudes cant just treat manchin like the anomaly he is, which is actually a gift to the democrats. he shouldnt even exist. judge jackson doesnt get confirmed without manchin

but the problem is that hes the "50th" vote. no one would be whining and crying if he was the 59th vote in 2009 :dead:

lowkey, the fact that this dude got elected as a democrat senator in west virginia makes him maybe the best politician in america :laff:

I don't think they can

If they get rid of him, a GOP fukkboy the likes of which we can't even comprehend will rise to power in West Virginia

Manchin himself is a fukkboy....his GOP replacement will probably make it state law that a baby is fed coal within the first few days of its life or some shyt

That seat is going Republican as soon as Manchin retires anyway, so I'm whatever.

Doesn't change the fact that dude is a huge scumbag and won't be remembered well by the history books, particularly for blocking action on climate.

Gotta be the further left's fault for being unreasonable that legislation ain't happening.

:mjlol:

On a more honest note, it is pretty shameless of him to not only block, but to drop ads shytting on BBB and the party still lets him run amok. Nobody expects the Dems to be perfect - they are politicians after all. But it's a tragic comedy that is allowed to play out when your party isn't aligned on almost all operative fronts. From the voters to the polls, to the elected members themselves, they're a political Cleveland Browns franchise.

Manchin’s gone rogue at this point. Remember him bringing up coal miners, as to why he can’t support BBB? The coal miners coalition themselves came out and said they WANTED BBB to pass, so that they can slowly transition into renewable. When Manchin responded with ‘they’ll all lose their jobs’ .. the workers fired back with ‘we’ll retrain and learn the renewable energy ways’ .. and then… crickets. I haven’t heard shyt more about it. My buddy lives in West Virginia, and he says he hasn’t heard shyt about the miners in months.

The coal miners were always just a scapegoat.

His actual reason for blocking it is just standard corruption. His family has made millions selling coal to a plant in WV, and best believe they're donors.

Manchin and Sinema are fine playing the "foil" because they know they're running the play that about 10-15 other democrats wouldn't play along.

Look at Tester, Feinstein, Carper, c00ns, etc.

North Jersey but I miss Cali :sadcam:
So the premise of this thread is that Dems should willingly give up the majority, let Mitch McConnell set Senate rules and schedule votes and nominees as he sees fit, and this shall achieve....what?
They don’t have a majority. If they did, this thread wouldn’t have been made in the first place.

For a while Manchin used to get me upset but not so much anymore. :yeshrug: With Democrats it's always one excuse or another why they don't pass stuff. Personally I'm starting to think that is part of the game.

What people asked for and somewhat promised. The 10k student loan relief, police reform, George Flyod Bill, even a "study" on reparations, and addressing climate change that I can think on the top of my head.
How do you pass this stuff without 60 votes in the senate?
