Core identity is who you believe yourself to be. I'm this sort of person or that sort of person or I'm a good person. Your physical body doesn't determine what your identity is.

These people think gender is a part of their core identity and they think their biological sex got it wrong. It colors who they are in life. I don't see the world that way but they do. I don't look at what people call a tomboy and think she should have been born male. I don't think it matters. She is who she is regardless of sex or gender.
