It's not because of Bernie. It's because it was done to protect Biden, which was an error. On top of that, there are black people in Iowa. It's our traditions as well in politics imo. Those states are a cross-section of the country. And we shouldn't be allowing GOP BS media to say the Dems hate Middle America.

Yeah I agree they don't. And then their choice dropped out. It's to move forward.

Fair enough. We need to move past the 2010s at some point.
Black folks will rock with anyone who the democratic party picks as long as they aren't an open white supremacist. Biden was friends with Strom Thurman and coaurthored the crime bill and blacks voted for him lol. I actually agree south Carolina is useless, midterms should start in the swing state.

Tradition is a funny word when defending something that’s only like 25 years old.

I guarantee you if Bernie had beat Biden in SC in 2020, and the Dems still decided to move SC up. There wouldn't be the complaints that exist now. You can ignore it, or act like it's not related to it. But the fact that this is where Bernie got derailed the second time is where all the anger and resentment comes from. You say it was moved up to help protect Biden. The next election Biden had the power of the incumbency. There wasn't going to be a real challenge to him and thus it's null. You could argue that if Biden didn't seek re-election and SC was pushed up with NH and IA. That maybe Kamala would have got an early win and boost her above the field. Or she could have won that state and IA, and NH and then what or she could have lost all 3? It's a hypothetical that doesn't matter.

IA likely represents what the average white person feels, and SC probably represents how a lot of black people feel. Neither state is more important than the other. And candidates should be trying to win as much of both of them as possible. You argue that keeping IA first helps alleviate the narrative that Dems hate Middle America. Couldn't you use that same argument about them hating the South then by doing the opposite.

again I don't think it matters what states are in what order on the primary. The candidates need to be focused on winning the people not the states. I stand by the fact that the issue wouldn't exist if Bernie hadn't lost SC. Sorry not changing my mind.

I disagree only because Iowa and NH were still first in 2020. I would still complain at least. Its dumb. Obama did win IA.

If it were NC, well, then it would make sense, as that is one of the fastest-growing states in the country. And it also has a lot of black people. But SC is red in general. This argument can be made of Louisiana as well.

I agree that candidates need to win people. Right now, the Democrats have no real practice doing that in five years.

Also, for the record, Kamala would have done way better in IA and NH, just due to being VP, but we'll never know now.

IA has only went Blue 11 times since 1860. You could argue the Clinton to Gore and 2 Obama wins are outliers. It's a consistently red state. I wouldn't be upset if NC was moved up. Because it doesn't matter what states go first, it matters who's getting votes. We've only had one presidential election since 2020. If they immediately move SC back in 2028, is it going to change things for better or worse?

It does matter because it impacts donors and momentum. Outside of wanting to carry the carcass of biden across the finish line zero reason for red ass south Carolina to be first.
