They're losing the disinformation and misinformation campaign, I'm honestly unsure how they turn this around quickly. Dems are seen as the "uncool" party right now, even the tiktok ban is political suicide for a party that used to count on the youth for future registration. Dems have to learn to play thr political game better like republicans do, republicans turn everything into politics regardless of how shameless it looks on paper. Republicans used the California fires in California to make potential inroads in California, dems would never do that with Florida hurricanes

Aside from all of the media ecosystem advantages the GOP enjoys, winning the media propaganda game is a lot easier when your political party is just shamelessly hypocritical. I say this not to say the Dems are angels (faaaaaaaar from it), but rather that they're more likely to take sustained negative flack for being blatantly dishonest in the ways Trump and the GOP in general typically are. Being shameless is a huge political advantage when you're never really held to account for your lies, flip-flops and scandals the way your political opposition is.

It's not a short term thing, but Dems absolutely have to build up their own media ecosystem that has significant mainstream reach if they want to be viable nationally long term. In the meantime, one thing that probably couldn't hurt is Dems taking a page out of the right-wing handbook and complaining loudly and often about the media's conservative bias.

Playing the political game would probably come easier to them if they dropped the constant overtures of bipartisanship and just behaved in a more Machiavellian manner towards the GOP.

The Senate seems lost for a decade.

They can certainly win the U.S. House next cycle.

But what’s going to make them oppositional?

The vibes I've been getting from the Democratic base as a whole is exhaustion and disillusionment with politics in general. I'd think (or rather just hope) when/if the base wakes up out of its post-election funk and start making it clear they want they want a more openly oppositional stance, at least some in the party would stiffen their spines a little.

A lot of talk from around my way is that Dems are lgbt obsessed, constantly wanting to lecture people on how their opinions are wrong, overusing the terms “racist, sexist, homophobic, transphobic”, and use terms/speech that no one even uses in real life like “birthers”, “people of color”, “Latinx” etc when communicating. It makes them sound out of touch, annoying and not for them or their problems.
You even see that in black community, mainly from men. “Democrats are only for gay black men or black women”. They talk more about social issues than economic ones etc.

I think why so many people gravitate to Joe Rogan is because he represents the opposite of all the above. His show never tried to shame people for their ideas and gave them enough time to get their thoughts across, he talks in language that people use everyday, calls out goofiness of modern politics, is funny etc. He seemed to represent the average person to a lot of people.

Democrats expected the youth to bail them out in the election over abortion and student loans, two things they didn't actually do anything about, only to ban tiktok and support the genocide in Gaza, two things that the youth is very passionate about that Democrats exacerbated.

Then they let Trump get elected again after spending years calling him an existential threat, all for Trump to immediately portray himself as the president who saved tiktok and the president who got a ceasefire in Gaza.
