I don't know what areas are still doing lockdowns. That sounds like an individual locality issue. I haven't seen any since May of last year, and I'm in an area with a Dem governor, Dem mayor, Dem congressman, Dem Senators and Dem legislature.
The only thing I see locked down might be schools in some areas, but those aren't even shut down here.
And they already tried the honor system of "get vaccinated or wear a mask until you do," and people lied, nobody enforced it, and cases spiked through the roof. So why would Dems not be the 'party of masks and mandates' to avoid another spike?

I already answered this. I wouldn't say I'm 'proud' of it, but I understand it. They tried to do the honor system, it didn't work, so now they have to be more aggressive to mitigate the spread of the virus. I don't have a problem with that.
