The suburbs
At some point they gotta start side eyeing these suburb nikkas :lolbron:

Growing up inside the actual city is different than growing up in some rural suburb 20 miles out

Lil Baby and Migos upbringing way different
It depends. It's some hoods in suburbs that are bad too. Someone growing up in Compton didn't grow up in a better environment than someone in South central

Anything outside of the Interstate 285 perimeter is not Atlanta.

Plain and simple.

To nikkas not from GA, why does this matter to y’all so much?
I’m surprised the thread is doing these numbers.
J.R. Crickets is a real restaurant right?? How are the wings? What are the staple Atlanta restaurants that ARENT named Slutty Vegan?

The strippers I know in the ATL use to always tell me migos ain’t from the A either

They are correct. They not from Atlanta they are from Gwinnett.

If someone say they are from Atlanta then you ask what high school? and they say they are from Gwinnett you gonna see them start to fumble over their words trying to justify themselves.

I don’t know if that’s a good metric though. My family moved a lot. I went to two high schools, one in Atlanta and one in Gwinnett. 4 middle schools, and like 7 elementary schools. I wouldn’t consider myself from Atlanta even though I’ve lived a third of my life in the metro. The rest was in other states.

Brooklyn keeps on taking it.
so the boroughs are actually mini cities within an actual city on an island then.

is that simply how to think of it.

Yea but only Brooklyn feels like a separate city because it used to.

Bronx just a continuation of Manhattan and Queens was designed to be a suburbs and till this day Queens has those retarded town address system

Atlanta
Decatur is the worst example for people to use and say they false claiming. Decatur is extremely popular for multiple reasons even outside of hip hop. Everybody who know about Atlanta know or heard about Decatur maybe they Gucci Mane or Future or whoever. Anyone from East Atlanta mentions A Decatur neighborhood or street (candler, glenwood, Mcafee).

People from Decatur be super proud to say that’s where they from. Gucci, 21 Savage , Chris Tucker, Future from Kirkwood but went to Columbia High… so many more. Everybody in Atlanta views Decatur like college park.. and East point.... and people from Decatur and other places proudly claim that’s where they from. Its just like how they do in LA. People who are from Compton say that’s where they from. (I saw other thread) But they also say they from LA if they go out of town and are treated as LA cats in they city. It’s places like Dunwoody ,Snellvile, Marietta or whatever and wherever where people say I’m from Atlanta and people look at them crazy.

I’m from Adamsville (literally in Atlanta) and we still refer to college park and east point as the south side and Decatur the part of the east side. But it’s only those 3 places literally that are basically treated as boroughs because they blend with the city limits It’s not that complicated.:gucci:

I dont get it breh
shyt crazy to me. I moved there in my last year of HS and went to McNair but anyone ask where I’m from, it’s GA…(what part?) Valdosta…(how far is that from the A?) far enough to where I don’t claim it. Simple as that. For all my life, it’s always been anything outside the loop is false claiming. Just the way it’s always been. Folks not even from there don’t even realize how small the city of Atlanta is if you go by zones. Never heard anyone claim Zone 5 in my life

okay...

so why do south bronx people.

give off this aura of they are from the city and other boroughs are like more suburban tho.
yet not the bronx.
when they are all major cities then.

so does the bronx have a burb?
or does the bronx consider the other boroughs suburban?

i am trying to understand the stigma from my peoples in real time tho.

Let me try to see what you getting at…

The South Bronx is like the last of the Mohicans as far as the old guard NYC in terms of look and demographics it’s not gentrified like parts of Brooklyn are and Queens has always been seen as the middle class borough and has many suburban type areas. While, Staten Island has always been clowned on and has a mostly suburban/towny feel although it has its urban areas too like where Wu is from.

The Bronx is hood throughout the South and West Bronx (which were the integral places to hip-hop genesis). Northeast Bronx or “Uptown” (Uptown within Uptown, because Bronx/Harlem/the Heights is all considered uptown) has hood pockets but is heavily middle class and has a good amount of multi and single family homes. The highest concentration of middle class hoods in the Bronx is in the far East Bronx which I have hardly ventured having grown up here all my life where you still some of that old school Italian/Irish energy. These are places like Morris Park, Country Club, City Island, Throggs Neck, Pelham Bay. Like spliz said Riverdale is prob the wealthiest neighborhood in the Bronx there’s mansions there and shyt. So yeah contrary to popular belief the Bronx isn’t just one big slum.

ATL to MEM
Atlanta proper is small land wise. For comparison, Memphis is 2.5 times larger than Atlanta. Houston is 4 times larger than Atlanta.

That's why I have to laugh when people talk about how the Braves play all the way in Cobb County like that stadium isn't 3 exits from Atlanta.

But back to the topic at hand, Decatur is inside the perimeter, anything inside the perimeter is essentially Atlanta.
