Is DeKalb County considered Atlanta? A place called Lithonia?

I was fukking with this bytch from there who used to claim Atlanta and I used to :troll: about her not really being from Atlanta eventually she really got tight :mjtf:

In NYC if you not from the boroughs you not from here. shyt nikkas don’t even be claiming Staten Island :russ:

Decatur more Atlanta than Atlanta.

False claiming :mjlol:
It's a difference between being from in the city limits and just being from an overlapping zip or area code. I don't know ATL geography like that so I'm just talking really. I don't think it matters much or everyone would be tryna make it a big deal

About 90% of rappers that claim Atlanta, aren’t from there. 1/2 of Outkast (Big Boi = Savannah) isn't from there.

EDIT: there’s an entire channel that sometimes does documentaries on Atlanta. Here’s one video that talks about this post.

Historically it’s always been like this. Atlanta and Birmingham were both established right after the civil war and attracted former enslaved people and white people who needed a new start after the war. Atlanta had a large population of black women working as maids and laundresses and always had a gender imbalance because a lot of men were forced to go to South Georgia and work the fields.

from my perspective it holds the same allure as New York does; it’s a place for opportunity and growth. Same with LA. Coming from Alabama and seeing the So So Def Welcome to Atlanta billboard on 75/85 made me as a younging love the city. It was huge and had trains and shyt.

you literally just typed “Decatur, GA” in Google Images and found the first three images. How is that a fair representation :mjlol:

Do you have any book recommendations or documentary links to the first portion of your post. Would love more insight on the formation of the South.

It’s crazy I’ve heard so many say the same thing. Opportunities, a new lifestyle, change in scenery. Add along Atlanta’s influence in the Civil Rights Movement and it makes sense. I’m proud of it being the capital of the state.

Distance. It’s right there tho. At some point is has to stop. Fairburn in Union city or not Atlanta either. Suburbs outside of it tho
Union city yes but what about riverdale? And north Clayton county?

I look at atlanta like Boston; relatively small big city with a huge metro population. shyt I associate lake Lanier, Stone Mountain and the chattahoochie river with atlanta and they all are outside city limits.

I’ve been to Decatur and Decatur is a nice ass town. I’m from Chicago and it’s essentially like our Oak Park and Evanston. An inner ring, upscale, street car suburb.

Yeah, I pulled those photos because that’s how Decatur looks. :heh:

Yeah Decatur may have a low end (which I hadn’t seen) but it couldn’t possibly be a substitute for “the street” that some of these rappers like to give off.
