That's why the Randle extension was so frustrating.

You drafted Obi KNOWING that y'all were ready to move on from Randle. Randle has the year of his life and instead of daring him to do it again, he cashes out a year early and reverts back to what he was and is now blocking Obi.

In a perfect world, Randle has THIS season last season, the Knicks decline his year 3 option and Obi gets a full season to showcase himself. Now, that might have cost y'all the playoffs last season, but y'all would be way more optimistic about the future (and subsequently y'all wouldn't have signed the guys you signed for as long as you did).

As far as the ‘lytics go he’s been pretty stagnant through three seasons just with higher usage over the years leading to a better box score

As far as the eye test goes he’s made marginal noticeable improvements to his game not very significant ones.

Btw, Obi is a testament to why “you gotta prove it in your shytty spot minutes” is bullshyt most of the time. You need real minutes to show what you can do on a basketball floor. It just won’t happen in short 4 minutes spurts.
