It still is. Only one team moves up from outside the top 6. MAYBE 2. And those teams are usually in the top 10 still. It’s still an odds game. The worse your record the more likely you are to get a top pick. Plus this is a top heavy draft so we Def don’t want pick 12 when we could have gotten pick 7 for instance.

A team that just beat Dallas at Dallas and almost had Memphis beat on the road is not a team that would get smacked in the play in especially if it would to add a 23 PPG scorer. And the reason I said Cj McCollum is because the assets to acquire him would have been little at best. He was traded for Josh hart for goodness sake.

Sorry to say this but not everybody agrees with this tanking nonsense that gets spewed in this thread.

These guys aren’t understanding the purpose of tanking if you think it’s to move up. At this point the Knicks need to be in position to get the BEST pg pick in case they are moved down or make no moves at all.

Picking at 7-10 is the goal in and of itself

The consensus top five is Chet, Jabari, Ivey (who mocks now have as three), Banchero, and Sharpe. Chasing them is not the plan. Of the top four most fans want Ivey but this isn’t like 2019 when the whole fanbase is obsessed with a top pick because they are in legit range to choose them. Nobody is really focused on Ivey, like that because no one expects to move up.

After the top 5 it’s all a question mark. Any of the PG could get slotted as 6 -10 and taken early. Johnny Davis, Duren. Griffin, Keegan Murray get mentioned a lot but they aren’t a lock for consensus 6 - 10. The Knicks need to be in that range to give themselves a shot at drafting this years BEST PG. It’s not 2020 when PGs are dropping out the sky. This draft has like 3 good Pg prospects.

So the reason why to support a Tank is imagine the alternative of them busting their asses…. Losing the playin…. And then being at 12 and watching guys like Montero, Dyson, and TyTY being drafted and they got to take the PG who is left of the three or another fukking wing or Center. Dyson and TyTy are already in the top 10 - 12 on most mocks before the tournament and workouts. They are just as likely to go up as stay there and Montero is a wildcard who might shoot up during the workouts.

Plus even if the Knicks win the playin and get into the first round. It will be against Miami or the Bucks and the Knicks have been dealing with injuries and roster issues all season and have no PG. Plus Randle is having a season long personality issue. They should focus on retooling now because they are fitting to get slaughtered.

The only reason this team has to win games is to justify not firing Thibs to the fans. They go on this late run and fans will lower their expectations (like always) and ignore Thibs pig headed stubbornness all season because they “won 9 out of 17” at the end of the fukking season. Meanwhile they lose the chance to draft a damn PG again.

So if you don’t support a tank…. You support Thibs

And they are fitting to bring him back regardless

This team needs to retool, and just try to get through this season healthy.
