also 3.5 behind Charlotte for the 9th spot

ATL, CHA and WAS all lost :snoop:
fukk... I'm trying to not talk myself into this shyt. fukk

Ok...Knicks are currently behind

8. Nets
9. Hornets
10. Hawks
11. Wizards

For the rest of the season, we play the Wizards twice and the Hornets twice. We pick up those 4 wins and have a decent record and it's possible we end up at 10.

But wait... We also play the Hawks who we are behind by just as many games as the Hornets. If we win against them, we take the season series, which would play in our favor if theres an identical record.

BUT WAIT...WE ALSO HAVE OUR THIRD MATCHUP AGAINST THE NETS ON SUNDAY. A win would bring the Nets two games under .500 and unless they can get a handle on their losses (which is feasible they don't... They have games against Philly, Dallas, Milwaukee, Utah, Memphis, and Miami the rest of this month with probably 4 winnable games outside of us), they're vulnerable at 8. Not to mention we play them AGAIN in April.

:snoop:

I'm not saying we should go for it but I'm saying that if we take one or both of these next two games, we're back in the thick of the playin races because we're definitely not out of it. And if that 8th seed is vulnerable by April, do we stand a chance against either Toronto or Cleveland for the 7th spot?

Nah bro, let’s draft a PG. Imagine these ass holes work there way to pick #13 and lose that shyt. That would make this potentially the worst season in the last 20 years and that is saying something.

They have no real way to improve at PG outside of the draft.
I’m torn as usual. Like I get what your saying completely. But, winning while playing the young guys makes us a destination for a star player again. We were literally poison just last week. If people start talking about us in a good way, IQ and Obi etc aren’t just throw ins in a trade. Now they can be features. RJ isn’t just a potential bust/question mark, he’s a bonafide running mate for another young star like Mitchell.

We are not a destination for a star player right now.... We might not even have a center next year.

Right now, no. If we go 12-4 to finish the season, the narrative is gonna be “Thibs turns season around by leaning on youth”. THAT helps us just as much as drafting TyTy Washington imo. Maybe Brunson was leaning towards staying in Dallas 2 weeks ago, but now is reconsidering it.

We can bring Mitch back for this. I thought he was gonna command 15-18.

~$13M is reasonable. i want Mitch back but i think he'll sign with whomever gives him the most (Detroit?).

Sims has potential. he kinda reminds me of Ben Wallace

Quick IQ thoughts...I've spent a LOT of this season (preseason and summer league) talking about how much Quickley was struggling to find balance. He would hesitate on his looks, probably to check his passing reads first. That took all the bite out of his scoring. But recently, he's been more aggressive as a scorer and the uptick isn't just in percentages but his free throw attempts. Now that creates something IQ can work with, which is gravity.

Check the progression on his reads here. The early ones go to the bigs because he's drawing that second defender. But when a third man floats to the rolling bigs, IQ starts to kick the ball out instead. First he's making reads off his own gravity but next he's even making reads off the roll man's gravity too. That's the difference between a point guard and a scorer. Most scorers can do a read and react, but anticipation is where heady passers reach another level.

The interesting part is that I think this is a coaching impact. Recently all three of IQ, RJ, and Randle are shooting with less hesitance and using their gravity to open others. Randle always did it, but would sometimes wait too long to draw guys in. Now you've got the three primary ball-handlers of the moment doing similar things...and Burks was doing it too. Idk if that's film sessions or they got some extra practice time or if it's just because Western Conference defense is kinda assed out.

But the playmaking growth of multiple players in a couple of months span is pretty eye-opening after they flashed upside but never showed these instincts consistently prior.
