Honestly this series just proves to me what I have thought for a while:

TV/Streaming is a better storytelling medium than film.

You have much more time to flesh out the character arcs and backstory and correct mishaps and things you get wrong (as a writer/director/producer)

We are in a golden age of TV because it's just an overall better medium than movies. With more options and less restrictions both artistically and commercially.

This is yet another example.

And I can now say I'm a fan of DWP when last week I woulda been on some :francis::ld::stopitslime:
If this franchise was brought up.

Nope. And that's got nothing to do with not liking the subject matter and just not being a Donald glover fan. I've heard I should watch it I've had people threaten to string me up by my tims etc but yeah

I was just curious. The Film Room was pretty adamant in you watching it IIRC. I tried Insecure, but it just wasn't funny, so I dipped after 3 episodes.

can't lie i'm enjoying it so far
they really go into the characters

shyt is way better than the movie

The movie had something very specific to say. the show has something else to say while dealing with the same characters while also getting time to breathe and fill the world out. I'd say the movie is surface level racism and poking fun at the institutions around it but turns some people off because its college kids dealing with it and college kids need to grow and develop. It's hard to show all of that and handle that in 2 hours. Much easier to do it over a longer period of time
