Ayton was not #1 on anyone's boards before I made this thread. This class was all about Bagley, Doncic, and Porter. Ayton was #3 at best on most mocks. When he flies up to #1 unanimously, it will be way after I made this thread.

NBA ain't the NFL. Being able to identify who from the top 3-5 will be the superstar is the trick cause guys like Kawhi happen once a decade. Guys like Ayton come along every year. The key is being able to separate the Greg Oden from the Kevin Durant. I believe I have a strong track record in that regard. I as the only guy last year who said Tatum should go #1 overall ahead of Fultz. I said Tatum was a future superstar and Fultz was a bust.

So far this year, I've been proven right.
This class has always been a five player race. Always. Ayton and Bamba were highly valued and numerous scouts said it depends on their college play will determine where they go. To say this was a 3 man class is insane.

:dead: Fultz a bust? I always hate these comparisons because it refuses to acknowledge that most players don't go into a 50+ win team with an elite coach. They usually go to a terrible team like the Lakers with a Dennis Scott/Sam Mitchell type of coach.

This is what I'm rooting for. If that happens, Celtics will be a dynasty. Imagine this lineup:

PG - Kyrie Irving
SG - Jaylen Brown
SF - Jayson Tatum
PF - Al Horford
C - DeAndre Ayton

This team wins the title in 2019 and 2020.

:banderas: by 2020 celtics might have cap space for Anthony Davis

He was top 3 on DX 2018 mock months before you knew who he was, and that was before he worked on his body during the summer.

I know. But there's a huge difference between being #3 in the NBA Draft and being #1. Everyone said Tatum was the #3 player in the 2017 draft. I was the only person who said he was #1. I've been proven right so far. And I'm pretty sure I was the first person to say Ayton is easily the #1 pick in the 2018 draft while everyone else was on the overrated Bagley or that euro cac Doncic.

As I said earlier, the key with the NBA Draft is identifying who among that top 3-5 will be the generational superstar. I got it right with Tatum in 2017. And I'm right about Ayton in 2018 as well.

No, there isn't a huge difference between 1-3 before the start of the College season, ie. Karl Anthony Towns wasn't even a top 5 pick before the season started.

Ayton has been known for years, he has always been projected as a top 3 pick, the only person who was getting a nod over him consistently was Michael Porter Jr. and that was because up until this year Ayton had a questionable motor and was a lot more doughy looking.

You're talking about him like you discovered him, you can go back to 2014 and find posts about Ayton being a top pick :mjlol:

I've been calling Ayton the best prospect for more than 2 years

The reason Ayton wasn’t top because there has always been questions about his work ethic the talent has been there. Looks like he cares now.
