Dean Ambrose recently appeared on the Major Wrestling Figure podcast and talked about the experience of having his own action figure:

"It's trippy," Ambrose said. "When you first make it to WWE, that's one of those things where you're like, 'I'm going to be in a video game, I'm going to have a toy and everything,' and it's like, 'whoa!' It's very cool."

"It's still hard to wrap my brain around it sometimes that I'm even in WWE. Because you're so used to just walking around and seeing Vince McMahon and Triple H walking around, like I'm so used to having conversations with Vince McMahon. It's hard to remember like, 'whoa, you were just a kid watching this on TV. It's like, whoa!'"

"You guys are like me, there are a lot of people here that are just here for the money," Ambrose stated. "They didn't grow up watching it, they don't care for what they do, they have no artistic care for what we do. But you guys are like me, this is all we've ever loved, this is our thing. Toys are a part of it."

Thanks to WrestlingInc.com for the quotes.
I've been saying that the reason the WWE sucks now is because we're living in the collect a check era. So many wrestlers have zero personality, and the ones that do get buried or pushed to the side for the company's flavor of the month.

It's been a while since a WWE wrestler said this shyt. It used to be a standard quote years ago :pachaha:
I’ll never forget DB saying something of that ilk on the Punk DVD. He said dudes were basically only there for a check and would hope they weren’t even booked for Superstats or Main Event. That was 7 years ago so I could only imagine them today

Maybe but the writing and micro managing sucks. Roman got overpushed way, way too far. Cena too. Blandy too.

Reigns was over pushed, but just like Cena he got a reaction which is all they care about. Orton is the only one who didn't deserve his mega push, because people literally only popped for his song and RKO. The time between those two things was filled with deafening silence.
wonder who hes talking about besides brock and prob randy orton
Anyone you see out there just going through the motions.
Surprised Sasha hasnt outright said it about Bliss
She has before on those aftershows they used to have.

And WWE knows its a lot of their dreams, so they're able to give them shyt or give them nothing at all and know they'll stay when there's no reason to if you're passionate about actually working and being used.
What that famous quote from Vince eat shyt and learn to love it

This is the problem not having real legit competition

Its there dream to be a famous wrestler but when you only have one big place to work

When you get your gimmick/ character given to other guys or girl or you get ignore by creative team members like Cody told everyone after he left then yup you lose your drive and passion and start going thru the motions and just give me my check

It's interesting Dean says this because you also hear people complaining that WWE is full of too many marks who care too much about the craft and whatnot.

Truthfully, it's hard to tell which mindset is better to have. Wrestling is a fukking hard job, especially on the WWE schedule. I have no idea why anyone who didn't love it at least a little bit would do it. I mean, unless you're Brock Lesnar and someone is paying you millions. Even then, Lesnar isn't putting in near the amount of work or time on the road the guys Ambrose is talking about are. Not to mention improving one's skills, and thus, hopefully your chances of making more money. You don't get an AJ Styles level talent from someone who doesn't care at all. Not normally, anyway.

On the flip side, given just how much WWE fukks over their talent, maybe looking at it as just a gig is better for your mental state in the long run. You look at someone like Ambrose or Sasha, where we've literally seen the fire go out of their eyes when the harsh realities of working in WWE hit them. Probably not gonna happen to some of the football and gymnastics wash outs who just showed up at the PC when Trips came a calling and they didn't have any better prospects. It's just work for them, so they're not going to care as much.

Pretty much. This is basically what happened to Zack Ryder and Dolph Ziggler. Both those dudes loved the business, but the WWE did everything they could to kill off their passion. You can 100% see that in Dolph Ziggler, and it was very apparent in CM Punk's last run when he was an out of shape unmotivated face.
