in early convos about the film, jackman specifically mentioned timelines (not the multiverse) as a way to bring the character back without harming what happens in Logan. that said...
from the spoilers i've seen, this film connects to loki. specifically the time variance authority. one rumor is they're after wade because of all the time travel-related fukkery he committed during the end credits of deadpool 2. another rumor is they're putting together a hit list of the greatest heroes throughout the multiverse to take on the council of kangs.
