Don't really follow hockey like that, but just would always hear about the Caps and their issues in the playoffs over the years.
Each year, would always hear, "is this the year"?

Not even a hockey fan, but I was in downtown watching the game on the big screens and soaking up the vibe like everyone else. Thousands of people cheering in the streets, drinking beer and smokin herb. Historical night. Just glad we can put this "DC sports curse" bs to rest, because I knew it was only a matter of time before we get another ship with the talented teams we have. Nats up next.

I usually exit the Metro a few stops later, but made a point to get off at Gallery Place/Chinatown this morning and walk to work from there. There's still an electricity in the air; you really can almost feel it. I was taking a few pics of the Cup banner and some other posters on Cap One Arena, and in that short time I had three people walk past/come up like, "This is SO exciting!" (As they snapped away themselves. 
)
There's like, I dunno, a spring in everyone's step this morning. Folks are definitely turned up, smiling, greeting you, the whole nine. It's fun and unnerving at the same time.

I work in DC so i've heard Caps fans suffer shytty losses to Penguins for years now.
Went to happy hour yesterday and the energy even before the game in that place was electric.
