Wonder Woman is not a popular character. At all. The success of the first movie is a triumph of marketing (played off like it was the first female superhero movie ever) but nobody really still fukks with it or talks about it.

In spite of all the good publicity from the first movie WW1984 has 0 hype and the character is no more popular today than before. As far as female heroes go, harley is at least somewhat popular and she has lapped WW in that regard.

This is all true. The marketing definitely helped the first wonder woman. Also Gal Gadot is gorgeous which also helped. They might be able to pull it off if there's a good marketing strategy. They definitely need to gear it more towards younger girls which must be a hard sell since girls only care about superhero shyt if there's a cute young stud attached to it.

However, I find it interesting how it seems like women are never as interested in women empowerment type movies that pander to them directly

These Gen Z/Feminists.....what they really did for the movie title was listen to Mariah Carey's "Emancipation of Mimi" and watched an episode of Sex and The City and thought it would be a great way to make a film title....

That shyt was hot gahbage. Terrible cast outside of harley, terrible acting, over reaching girl power, terrible villain and the fight sequences were so slow paced and outta sync that I wanted to throw up. Black canary was basura. I hate that fukking movie, no offense but it was worse than suicide squad.

Anything made by women apparently can't be criticized in 2020....

Looks like they will probably back Wonder Woman for the female side of things for WB after this...

they should have always put their eggs in the wonder woman basket. but DC is always looking for ties to batman to sell. even one note characters who they think can be the next deadpool
