I know people will take this line: "with a goal of potentially finding someone to serve as a creative and strategic czar similar to what Marvel has in Kevin Feige" and automatically think that they are going to "reboot" the DCEU and try to create a linked movie universe like what Marvel did but what I got from the article is that they aren't interested in anything like that and instead want to get someone in the driver seat for the DCEU who will drive an assembly line of movies based on DC IPs instead of the slow and very inside the box approach they have been taking.
So on top of finally getting a Superman flick off the ground the folks at Discovery want more and varied projects that they can then expand into other areas of the WB Discovery business like video games and TV.
So anybody expecting a 10 movie storyline that re-introduces the Justice League members in individual films and ends in a Crisis on Infinite Earths movie or something like that will be very disappointed.

People can't read. They come into the thread with agendas. They are presented facts and then still try to spin their own narrative.

DC doesn't need to do what marvel does

They don't need a connected universe

Just do great individual movies

DC characters are too overpowered to be rushed and thrown together. And We don't need origin stories for them we know who they are

Marvel spent 10 years cooking before they brought everyone together

If DC was smart they would've focused on building up their villains and put together a Legion of Doom that's worthy of and necessary for the Justice league to come together
(Just look at how great the Joker movie was)

DC animated was amazing they could have just followed their blueprint also

Anyway if they're really gonna do it

Start with fukkin Superman and figure out what you're gonna do with him.. no one else matters if you can't get him right

Did you see Green Lantern? :usure:

(pretty sure he had a major part in the making of the movie.)
Johns part in the Green Lantern movie debacle gets overstated.
Dude was one of like 7 producers on the project but he didn't write the script or really have control over the direction.
The Green Lantern movie's problems all come down to studio interference from replacing Greg Berlanti with Martin Campbell in the director's chair to bringing in Michael Goldenberg to re-write the script that Berlanti and Marc Guggenheim had written.
The studio basically took the movie out of the hands of the guys who loved Green Lantern as a character and handed it over to people who had no idea who the character was and no personal history with him while also giving them a mandate to not make the space opera the original script wanted to be and instead make a generic superhero origin movie.
Then everyone and their mom (including Johns) came in during the editing process and cut the movie up into the incoherent mess of a film that got released.

The fact this thread quickly turned into a Snyderverse War speaks to that.

Snyder hasn't had anything to do with DC for years aside from finishing the Snyder Cut with 99% of the footage already shot.

Yet... every DC thread on here turns into some Snyder debate :mjlol:

James Gunn/Todd Phillips/Matt Reeves etc.. none of them have anything to do with the DC projects that were made years ago.

Marvel did it right, of course, but in the beginning they had to go to some C listers to do it. That gave them a lot of leeway as to how the character behaves.

With Batman, Wonder Woman, and Superman people have some pretty deep preconceived notions of the character and it's more difficult to have an artistic license. HOW fukkING EVER, I've said this before you literally have the Bruce Timm universe right there, shout out to Dwayne McDuffie. Learn from it. JLU itself would be an immense play, bring a character like the Question to the big screen.
