In the interview. He was talking about how he lost weight and given that he assumed he wasn't getting cleared by WWE, he didn't bother gaining much so when he actually got cleared he went

Jericho said that he really didn't need the weight at this point of his career but D-Bry said that presentation was important and he kinda needed to look bigger if he ever was going to get his dream match with Brock. He even said that he loved Zack Sabre Jr but he would not buy him wrestling Lesnar because he's too skinny

It's not hard to explain really. To be that kind of gym freak, you have to be meticulous on everything you do with your body and what you eat and when. When you add in Cena's schedule it makes sense he'd want as much structure as possible just to be able to keep everything in line.
