Since rings mean so much, where does Tony Parker with his 4 rings and 1 Finals MVP fit in? :manuehh:
Parker was never the man on his team, Duncan was. He averaged 15.8 pts and 5.7 assists as a starting point guard. You can't be serious? :comeon:

I'm just saying his resume (rings + finals MVP) counters some of the others guys' (i.e. Nash who played in D'Antoni's video game system that made Jeremy Lin a star) stats. Even if you take the 03 title away (he was benched for Speedy Claxton in critical spots), in 05, 07 and 14, he was key to those wins. And people forget how easily he broke defenses down...especially when he added a consistent jumper.

It's not just rings that goes into a resume: player stats, individual greatness, and how they performed as an alpha. Parker falls well short.

Parker used to murder the D'antoni/Nash era Suns.

I remember how it used to make me wish Marbury was still wearing the purple & orange.

Marbury had Parker's number.Parker was his bytch.Once Marbury was off the squad,

Parker had a completely different kind of swagger when facing the Suns

But they got Chris Paul at 6 even though he's never won a ring and never made it to the conference finals until THIS year. I'll give you individual greatness, but he failed as the alpha.

Stockton has the stats and the back 2 back finals appearances, but was he the true alpha of the Jazz, or was Malone?

This list is from ESPN, not mine. :hubie:
Fair point about failing as an alpha, he needs a title.

Magic number one spot will forever be cemented

Honestly you can never say (n)ever in sport. Before lebron's emergence, who would have thought Larry Bird's status and legacy as the greatest small forward ever would not only be threatened but wiped out?

True

But chances are slim

6'9 all world point guard with the greatest vision we've ever seen is gonna be hard to replicate

I just don't see Steph as a pg.He's in the "other" category.Just a unique individual
he is a small shooting guard is what he is. a pg facilitates an offense. they are a floor general. look at that list and see all the dudes averaging like 10+ assists per game. there's a reason they did that and curry never has or will. it's because he is just an undersized 2 that they have to play at the one. he isn't anyone that will run your team the way pretty much everyone else on the list did or does. he doesn't belong on any top pg list period bc he isn't a great pg, he is a great player that happens to play that position. he would play the exact same way if you moved him to sg or sf.
