Agreed. As someone who struggled with their weight and worked my ass off to get fit physically and like David Goggins and his attitude towards goal setting; I will say this is defense of fat people.
1. Being fat is so easy. Imagine if instead of being addicted to cigarettes or alcohol, you were addicted to food. Now imagine how hard to get and how expensive it is to get drugs and now make it easy. In fact the cheapest, easiest and the food that will give you the best feeling, is the worst for you. All advertisements, commercials, signs are telling you to eat, eat, eat. School lunches are bought by corporations to sell things like milk and grains that cause more obesity than anything. Giving a child fruit loops should be as bad as giving them alcohol.
Do you know a lot of American food is banned in other countries? Like corn syrup?
2. Not only is it easy to get crap food in America , cities are structured in a way where it is impossible to be physically active. You are working 8-10 hours a day with a family and you damn sure can’t walk or bike to work because there are no sidewalks, bike lanes, or decent public transportation.
Unless we start attacking how corporations and businesses have destroyed our nutrition and cities there will always be fat people. Shaming them really isn’t going to do much. Like just say no to drugs

Id rather be fat than like David Goggins. Ive watched him in several interviews including this and dude had a rough upbringing, and he's still trying to fill a gap in his heart. He can be in the best shape of his life, and accomplish all his physical goals, but guess what, dude is still insufferable AF. The hypothetical fat chick in his story could be confident, find a BBW chaser to love on her, have tons of friends, have a fulfilled career, and enjoy all the foods she wants. She gets diabetes and dies at age 60. Thats a much more preferable life than David Goggins. There are plenty of morbidly obese fat folk who need some of Goggins tough love, but its obvious Goggins needs therapy and should focus on healing than pointing fingers at lazy people.
I agree with most of what Goggins says, but its not what he says or how he says it. Its who is saying it. Maybe because Im around his age, but its blatantly obvious that Goggins lives an unfulfilling existence. He frequently talks about how he is in his personal relationships and that he never turns it off. Goggins simply lacks the emotional credibility to point fingers at others regarding lifestyle. Dude needs to start a foundation and get a spokesman to speak on his behalf. In Contrast, Montell Williams (Talk Show Host) started out as a motivational speaker with a hard-ass demeanor with a military background. He was able to turn it on and off when needed. It allowed him to reach more people. Goggins is mostly preaching to the choir. The broader issue is what he said at the end.
These days….everything is okay. And you can’t say a thing about it.
It’s a problem. And I agree. It’s just that Goggins has a way of speaking…his personality…it’s very crude.
Not gonna lie. I like hearing Goggins go off sometimes. I read his 1st book. That guy makes me want to cut out all the bullshyt. Because he’s right. We lie to ourselves a lot. It doesn’t have to be about weight. It’s about comfort.
That’s actually a very fair criticism.I agree with most of what Goggins says, but its not what he says or how he says it. Its who is saying it. I agree with that, and it’s definitely a military thing. That’s actually a very fair criticism.
Goggins definitely lacks the tact that it sometimes might take for people to accept the truth he’s giving them.
Bro I live in Japan and when I went back to the states and ate some chocolate I almost fell out. Don’t even get me started on soft drinks. And we sell that shyt in schools. This is a good point, they do make food over there that's illegal in other countries. It even tastes way different, and yes it is addictive. I was there last year and got addicted after eating 1 cinnabon. When I lived there I didn't bring any desserts or snacks home becuase I told myself it's gonna be outside my house to greet me.
