Davey was always the one that seemed like he at least had SOME sort of personality, and that showed even more during his heel turn. Eddie Edwards has always been CAW #3

It's a good question. I was never a huge fan of the Wolves, specially Eddie's robotic personality and work, but they were at the top of the next "indy darling" generation in the late 2000s. I did fall for Davey's hype but that shyt lasted less than a year when he just went retarded with his "intense" gimmick and matches.
By the end of Davey's run as the top ROH guy there was already a decent amount of backlash against him. After that he never created any type of buzz as a performer so he got replaced by other people as the next super worker in the indys. Looking back, it's pretty hilarious he was considered the best in the world by a big part of the IWC for a couple of years
What I do find interesting is that a lot the people that threw DR and Eddie to the bushes as good workers were still enjoying the style and wrestlers that worked similar to them. I guess people just grew tired of them and once they got to TNA they were damaged goods in a promotion that most people find trash by default no matter what.

about it in 09'-10', and then Davey Ricahrds went full retard in ROH and it was a wrap for me 
I met Davey, he was a very cool dude. Was watching the ROH show from the crowd with his gf at the time.

I liked him when I first discovered him. He's basically a guy that only knows how to beat up himself and the other guy rather than actually have charisma or tell a story though.
Good for him choosing a better career path, he did everything he was gonna do in wrestling.

Also, if you ever want to see most wrestlers feelings on Davey, watch AJ v Davey at Death Before Dishonor 4. Davey starts up with his non-selling foolishness and AJ spends the rest of the match stiffing him like he owed him money, hitting him with the hardest apron brainbuster I ever saw him do, and calling him a f*ggot with the highest amount of disgust possible for about 15 minutes.3
What happened is, for years ROH Champion was a by-word for best wrestler in the world. One just went hand in hand with the other. Even after the indie golden era was up people lived by this, the issue was it obviously wasn't true
Eddie suffered because when people finally found it within themselves to get out of that line of thinking, he was in the main event doing stuff like that superplex spot and endless fighting spirit nonsense with Elgin

This is kinda off topic, but I also remember him quitting wrestling for his fiancee, then immediately breaking up with her and making a return. The Eddie championship run and eventual Davey title win and reign were such weird times
