maneuver ridiculous
Only played bout 20 secs from each songs but it sounds good for the most part, and I can tell what the standouts gonna be (not surprisingly its all the boom bap NY type stuff)
He made a mistake though having so many skits and long ones at that. We need to say RIP to long skits on albums, nobody wants to hear that shyt no more. Also that random r&b interlude needs to go, redundant when you have a Breezy song right after
and..? new rules, anyone can get a plaque through streaming..
still never heard of them dudes, or heard one track from them.. again.. only time ive ever heard their names, is on here..
I agree the fans are trying to justify this as a mixtape, as if in this day and age mixtape aren't just as good if not better than most albums.Ya'll nikkas put a lot of effort in classifying projects like its gonna change the quality lmao. Ep, Mixtape, Album, etc This shyt weak...dont see the purpose of even putting it out.
*goes back to listening to Twelvyy*
at this point, we gotta stop babying this guy.I like East, I think he needs to tighten his bars, and leave some of the late 90's, 2000's tropes in the past, where he is clearly influenced by Nas, Jay, he's picked up a lot of baggage, with too many bars about getting head in the bentley, that just no one is interested in anymore. Where he shines are tracks about the grit and grime of East Harlem, and how he ran in the streets, and what his life is like now, tracks like "Paranoia", "They Hate" and "Have You Ever", are the ones I connect with the most.
Production is solid throughout, though some needed more polish, more dramatic, a little light. The "My Dirty Little Secret" is well produced, but a tired, tired, subject that should be left behind, if no originality is going to be brought. The Chris Brown track is total miss, and again, 2000's baggage. This project works for what it was intended, I think he'll be fine. If he really wanted to separate himself, I would have darkened this up, and done 7 tracks of straight paranoid, angry, street tracks, instead of a few generic singles thrown in, and a lot of skits, (again the 90's baggage), let them die.
"6 in the morning with baggies on em, was a way of life"
That is where East shines.
Bad outdated moments:
Lighter flicking and exhale in "Have You Ever" (which is the dopest track on there)
Minor, minor complaint on a really strong track.
YES.I say it once and I'll say it again.. this nikka is maad average man.
Best songs are
Paranoi
Phone jumping
Maneuver
I'm done listening to this dude. Skits were damn near 5 minutes, had featuring Nas when dude was talking and didn't add on to the story. His music is bland man.
Like someone said earlier Don Q deserves this nikkas shine Frfr
No.Do y'all think Dave East can be a mainstream rapper?
If only people had listened when we told y'all about J Cole.Don't want it. There's too much mediocre talent nowadays. Just because he represents that old NY tradition doesn't mean he should be lauded as a great artist. He, like his peers this generation with the exception of a few like Drake and Kendrick are mediocre at best. Dave East isn't a wack rapper by any means but he has nothing to say, no message, stands for nothing, no charisma, his buzz feels manufactured too much. We need an overhaul of industry execs.
Bro are you kidding me? You ever heard these nikkas? Smh let me put you on some shyt real quick my nikka.
And if you fukk with them jawns (i mean why wouldn't you?) they gotta whole tape out together.
