I've never posted on that site but I have lurked to see what it's like and if you bypass all the controversial topics/sections that is constantly spoken/known about LSA their site has a much more content to offer than the Coli.
That site is somewhat comparable to Reddit in the sense that there's literally topics on everything (TV shows, food, DIY, miscellaneous stuff, etc, etc) that has nothing to do with the negatives connotations we associate the site with.
The Coli (specifically TLR) only wants to talk about bullshyt, politics, and trivial drama. The other sections of the Coli (Booth, Coliseum, Arcadium, Higher Learning, etc) serve their purpose but at the same time even those sections are pretty limited/redundant in content. Coli nikkas don't like talking about shyt outside of the usual, for example shyt nikkas on here act foreign to food and hate talking about it, a basic necessity of human life.
Another thing some pointed out is how LSA's registration is always open whereas the Coli registration is pretty seasonally (or by chance of luck) is open.
Here's the thing LSA is a much bigger site in terms of it's forum's sections and topics being spoken that even when trolls infest their site just by it being much larger those trolls can't overwhelm the entire site with their agendas which means only in certain topics and sections they're relevant.
The Coli is smaller in size when it comes to sections and content so trolls on here have a much easier time making their impact across the whole site noticable. That's why TheColi can't afford to have registration open 24/7 365 days a year compared to LSA where their trolls are only relevant in particular sections but have no impact on everywhere else within the site as mentioned in my other paragraph.
