It's a good season... not as masterful as season one (even though I hated the season finale for how rushed and cliche it resolved everything). My two big problems is for one, despite the portrayal of the Punisher itself was cool and Jon Bernthal did the best that he could. I did not like how he sounded and acted too much like SHANE. It was distracting me that he kept that southern accent when even in THIS SHOW he's supposed to be a pure New Yorker, as well as, the fact that his portrayal of Punisher is a bit too emotional when I am used to the comic book version of him being numb by all emotions. But that's a nitpick.
My bigger gripe is forced two COMPLETELY unrelated stories into one season with virtually no intertwining in them aside from Matt's absence which could of easily been done without one or the other. What made the 1st four episode outright FLAWLESS was the fact it solely focused on Punisher and it kept a consistent and fluid narrative, but once the Elektra story got into the mix, the season got a bit more convoluted and cluttered. It would of been better for BOTH stories had they had their own separate seasons instead of forcing both in and having neither being completely fleshed out in the end. They had a better opportunity in investigating how huge and deep the conspiracy on Frank Castle was into of just making quick resolutions as well as they could of done a full season on Elektra, her background, the Hand, and everything that's still left open. Despite the action being top notch and the chracters being done well.... they put too much into one season when it could of worked much better having them separate.
