Hopefully the story and movie is good enough to not allow that accent to become a distraction. To contrast, I binge watched Snowfall recently, and I wasn't sold on Damon Idris at first. Someone on here told me he gets better, and yeah by season 2 and 3 he gets much better. Idris Elba so good I wouldn't have ever known he was from the UK. Same with Dominic West.
Word, people trying to turn this into some kinda diaspora. Good acting doesn't discriminate whether you're a black European or African American. Chiwetel Ejiofor and Jeffrey Wright are 2 of my favorite actors.

Told y'all this wasn't the role for him. He's kinda overrated. Don't even have the look. Nate Parker would've bodied this role.
Nah you tripping Daniel's a good actor fukk all that. His accent might not have fit this role going by the previews but you aint about to get this bs off. Tbh he doesn't sound bad.

brit brehs mad :russ:

This ain't even a diaspora war thread. But him trying to sound like an American breh from the 70s ain't it, man. His American accent was perfect in "Get Out". I don't know why he couldn't get this accent down.

:patrice:

The neutral tone is not hard to do, see Idris Elba in the Wire. Then watch Idris trying to do any other kind of American accent :scust:

That south hybrid Chicago accent is not easy to pull off especially since it almost doesn't exist anymore. He might have done better trying to base his voice off a southern preacher
