Must I point out the obvious? If, with his history of concussions, he signs with AEW and wrestles regularly with those green high spot obsessed botch machines, he'll be a step above a vegetable by the time he's 50

"I just wanted to call you to make sure you're gonna resign with us..."
"Yes, Vince, I told you a thousand times..."
"...and you're not going anywhere else. Especially with those juvenile bucks and their receding line of hair. I still have a full head of hair, you know?"
"Vince. I told you, I want to be with my family and my newborn child for a while. I'll be back"
"Ok, I just wanted to be sure. You can't go to Japan either. Did you know you could get there a horrible disease called 'Inokism'?"
outside of wanting to wrestle a couple of "dream matches" elsewhere, what incentive does he have to leave the company where he's a made man and a prominent part of a reality show with his wife that they promote?
I mean, they would take him back pretty quickly. Specially if he is able to get some buzz, which he would mostly likely get.
Like, D-Bry could go on a 18 month part time tour world wide, get 10-15 matches he wants to have and WWE would go and offering him a killer deal to get him back.
Having said all that, I'm pretty sure he'll stay in WWE and be back sooner rather than later

If this was 5 to may 10 years ago..... I would agree with you.
But at this point he’s done everything he can do where he is at and won’t get any higher or can’t grown there. The only options there are to just get squashed by every new talent (significant destroying his legacy/personal brand) or retire
Jeff Hardy is a perfect example of someone who looks terrible staying there. Not saying or trynna endorse AEW, but he would look better and be better off literally anyone expect the E right now.
Yes, Jeff made some self inflicted mistakes that messed up his legacy.... but WWE ain’t doing him any favors and making him look 30x worse

I don't think AEW would be a good look for him either. He would be end up clogging the main event because he's too big of a star and too big of a fan favorite for them not to book him that way.
Wrestling a couple of special attraction matches to get attention/hype for AEW? Sure, an Omega match would surely sell well for that audience. But him being on the roster wouldn't do much for him either. I don't think he's leaving WWE so all of this is a moot point, but IF he were to actually leave, he should just be a free lancer.
I don't think he'll leave, but If AEW offered him more money for less dates - which is basically what he's said he wants - you could maybe call him a mark for staying with WWE, but even then - that's his business.
As far as writing - the care AEW has taken with the Hangman Page arc for the past two years is probably the best written long term wrestling storyline going today, and arguably the best since Bryan's run to Mania 30.
This Monday's Raw featured a guy getting a rose booted into his a$$hole. Everyone's entitled to their biases, but you're delusional as fukk if you think Vince is anywhere near the peak of TV writing right now.
Don't think that's in the cards. Punk seems pretty content with what he's doing and doesn't have to worry about being given Z-Packs for everything
If he does leave, it's probably to do those matches in a span of a few months or a year and then come back in time for Mania in Los Angeles. Money, job security, and having his wife and father-in-law work for the company is a lot to leave on the table.
Its definitely a long shot, but I seem to remember him mentioning Rey, Bryan, and a third person I can’t recall as wrestlers he would come out of retirement for.
I don’t see him working a full year, but I can see him wrestling one more PPV vs D-Bry
