I'm not the biggest fan of Russell but I was willing to give him a chance to show something next season.

That said, it's clear D'lo fans are living in their own bubble about his potential because the outside world from scouts, coaches, GMs, players, talking heads etc are not feeling him like that.
They were all wrong

It's truly astonishing just how categorically atrocious James Buss was at his job.... This is the down side of nepotism.... Those two contracts may go down as the two worst contracts of all time in the NBA as it forced the organization to Prematurely give up on a #2 pick and even with getting LeBron they now will be limited in cap space if they were to get AD because of Dengs stretch still counting for 6million over the next 3 Seasons :picard:

You HAVE to have competent upper management.... Everything else is really secondary

He would be the main piece of the trade, but if he was here, we can easily keep one of Ingram, Kuzma, or Lonzo so that would have been great.
Bron is great but I've always been a fan of patience. Would of liked to see the Zo/Russ/Ingram line up play out. As others have said tho Magic & Pelinka stuck in the you can only build with big names. When GS has proven drafting & letting your players grow works.

That is unless you got lazy mf like Wiggins:russ:

But if your youngins show they can put the work with the talent let them grow. It's a diff league than 15 yrs ago.

One of the dumbest trades in recent history. It's not like D'Angelo was on some Lonzo level of bust he was playing well but Lakers really thought they were getting big time free agents that summer.

It mainly came down to the Nick Young situation.
Byron didn't like him & let Magic know it. For some reason they didn't think him & ZO could play together

The Lakers did not like D'Angelo. I think he would have been gone even if they weren't trying to clear cap space. You know it's bad when the Lakers allow their local media to talk shyt about a player.

I agree. I always looked at it like Beasley/MIA situation. I thought DLO would flourish in BK when the deal was made. All he needed was his actual game to catch up with his ego.
