It's taken YEARS for him to get any flack as he's gotten a couple big contracts. And probably will get another fairly big one the next time he is a free agent. He will retire with over 300 plus millions in earnings when it's all said and done for being the right size at the right time in the league. He's one of the many reasons why the NBA should tier out who is actually a MAX player and who isn't . I know the market exploded and someone was paying him regardless but 180 million for a cat who never or still hasn't made an All Star team should have given EVERY team pause. He's always managed to dodge criticism for the most part because there were other people in that organization (Embiid, Simmons, Doc) to help take the brunt of the blame. Now all three aren't there and people are finally seeing how ass he actually is.

The fact that so many people hate him makes me think he can be a real contributor to a winner.

Because internet folks have hated Al Horford for years, and he's put up some pretty dang good games for the Celtics in the playoffs the last few years.
It's like...the more irrational and intense the hatred, the more likely that player is just good, but improperly utilized...or possibly just their failures are magnified and successes minimized.

Not the same…Horford will likely make the Hall of Fame if Boston wins a chip this year. I don’t think he was ever hated like that tbh other than some fans complaining about him being old or when they used to say he was soft.
