As the homie said above, this was already a trade that was in the works (details aside). Multiple sources were talking about it being on the verge of being done. I know a player agent who told me last week that the Suns were getting trigger happy and that he wouldn't be surprised if they disbanded the Suns core because they see the writing on the wall.
At the end of the day, KD would've had too much pride to go back to GS. He knows how bad it would've looked him jumping to all these superteams but then went crawling back to the place that he left, because that's the only place where he could win.
