I remember this

happening around the height of Ryder’s popularity, so this isn’t surprising at all. I’m not into the deathmatch gimmick but props to that guy for finding life after WWE

I don't........what was the point behind him even doing this? :dwillhuh:

I'm starting to realize that Triple H wasn't good at being a face. Even when we were supposed to like him, he had this strange way of looking down on other faces and not getting along with them. Like he was too cool for that shyt. :hubie:

The only person that made him sympathetic was Shawn Michaels, which is why DX was more likable than Triple H could ever hope to be by himself.

He wants to be like Austin but he’s not cool.

On top of that, NXT was TV-PG when it was good (AKA when Dusty was working heavily with the 'E's prospects). The rating doesn't matter; what matters is booking and presentation. Bad booking and presentation on TV-14 would just look like late-'90s WCW instead of whatever it looks like now at TV-PG.

Hell look at the Lashley/Lana angle

Because everyone trying to get over falls to the Infinity Shovel.

@boriquaking nailed it, he wants to be like Austin but he’s not cool, or relatable, or sympathetic in the same ways Austin was so it just comes off as him being a dikkhead when he does the same kind of things Austin used to. He Pedigree’d Ryder during commercial breaks or after the show, I recall him doing it to other people around the same era but I can’t remember who else it happened to. He was basically trying to do like Austin and hit people with his finisher for a crowd reaction and cheers but it just came across as self serving and tone deaf to do it to a guy who was as over as Ryder. Instead it just came across as the company shytting on him instead.
