Roland and Yvette could find some common ground because they both support increasing political engagement among Black people. However, Tariq does not believe in participating in the political process. He thinks that by not voting, it will pressure the Democratic party to offer something meaningful to Black people. In reality, they would prefer to overlook the Black vote entirely. This is particularly evident with leftists like Bernie Sanders types, who seem to prioritize gaining the support of white and Latino voters instead.
