I used to run across patches of dead ones in my backyard and would wonder what killed them. this video just answered it

also saw army ant travelers across the cracks in the pavement when I'd be outside all day in the summer.

and we used to get carpenter ants in my house real bad for a month or two out the year growing up for 3-4 years. stopping them from invading your house is a hassle. we actually sealed up any opeinings we saw in corners of the floor or windowsills, sprayed a line around the house etc etc...
