Grew up in the late 80s ohtside Chicago in the west burbs....my folks would play Anita consistently along with Luther, Will Downing, Jeffrey Osborne and Alexander O Neal. All they friends n coworkers had the same soundtrac. Makes me think of blac ppl stepping up tha ladder fo sho

I think Anita is Michael Jordan's favorite singer too

The song writing is an underrated aspect of these old school rnb singers. Nowadays, mainstream 'rnb' song lyrics sound like loosely collected texts/tweets by a 16 yr old.
