For whatever reason i don’t remember any resurgence for funky headhunter.

It’s funny what hindsight does for the MC Hammer story. At one point he was viewed as a sellout failure who blew all his money. Looking back now he was an innovative hood nikka who put all his people on with jobs and set the blueprint for the rapper with multiple income streams.

I'm from Oakland so I probably remember seeing it around more than most people from around the rest of the country did. But yeah, I agree with you on all points, even with my biased perception.

I grew up with my hip hop purist cousins clowning him from the jump, yet stayed having his cassettes floating around in all my friend's houses, including tfhh. He was pretty much universally seen as a gimmick artist at that point though, but he was still a towncat at heart.

i dont remember that version, thankfully...the one i remember was Hammer and his dancers in the Falcon gear
