That's what I've been expecting to happen since he volunteered to take the cure.

Also, I notice that Major didn't turn into a "full on" zombie when they were beating him up. I can't remember if that was ever explained by all the cures/medicines he's taken over the course of the show, or are the writer's just not using that plot device anymore?

I think they can control it. Since he did it to put the tracker on dude I think he controlled it but you might be right too.

I'm not so sure a swerve isn't still coming. Either way, I doubt the show will be getting rid of Blaine.
