An energy audit costs about $100, and is free if you qualify. We NEVER suggest solar panels because the savings don't justify the expense in most cases. He'd have been better-off air-sealing/insulating his home and (probably) upgrading his heating/AC/domestic hot water for a fraction of what he paid for that array.

80 stacks? what were those folks thinking?

How much do solar panels cost in 2023?

A residential solar system can range from $10,000 to over $30,000

Who takes the time to educate themselves on big purchases is the elephant in the room.

What do you suggest if someone wants to be energy independent or 'off the grid' more than they want to save money?
I don't talk to those people as they're insane/mentally challenged/paranoid and I'm not a psychiatrist.
