I thought it came off as someone trying to imitate the show.

Still laughed, but it wasn't all that great

This is how I felt about the 1st ep too. It felt too much like exactly what you’re saying, Larry just getting into rapidfire Larry-situations and felt like it was shot or edited weird. I also wasn’t thrilled by the idea of another season being about the production of a broadway show, like the Producers season since they already did that. I still laughed throughout though.

But the end of the episode, from the time that fatwa was put on him, was better. And now episode 2 was a classic so I’ll just write ep 1 off as him setting the table for the season
