Trains are still gonna be crowded. This is like adding a lane to an always congested highway. This is probably to combat the homeless but they don't wanna say so. But what's removing seats and changing train controls gonna do when a lot of the source for delays are signal problems?

always tell myself I have to do this some year

I happened to end up on that train randomly years ago on my way home from work. I can't believe in this day and age of lawsuits, they allow it to operate. The Windows go all the way down, I'd be worried some clown would stick their head out in the tunnel and get decapitated. Also, the running ceiling fans on the inside of the train are not covered. However, it was pretty damn cool and I'm glad I got to ride it
